German (“Near Ward”) The name for the “Tail” or low under guard. Ringeck says it is used best on the left, but can be performed on the right with the long edge forward. Also meaning “beside” or “at your side” in Lecküchner in 1488 and Joachim Meyer in 1560s. See Post Coda Longa.
